Description
  • Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) is a chronic and pervasive characterologic disorder in which the individual consistently violates social norms and the rights of others. Individuals with ASPD:
    • –Often have a history of legal troubles with violent offenses and, rather than accept responsibility for involvement in these events, they defer blame to others
    • –Tend not to respect or follow rules and, when challenged, contradicted, or criticized, may react with irritation or even threatening behavior
    • –Often use lies, cons, or aliases to obtain goals
    • –Often engage in risky and thrill-seeking behavior that shows a lack of judgment
    • –Lack remorse for, and often rationalize, their hurtful and deceitful behaviors; they are callous toward the feelings and sufferings of others
